Abstract

* In Many developing countries such as the Pacific Island countries including Fiji, the burden of obesity is regarded as one of the causes of NCD has doubled alongside undernutrition.
*In Fiji, the primary causes of obesity were the lack of exercise and the dietary risk factors. This had been assumed that it had resulted from a change in dietary patterns from traditional to a more contemporary or convenient one.
* Obesity is preventable when the right intervention is made. Therefore, surveillance of it is essential for policymakers to mobilize resources for intervention. Inappropriate nutritional behaviors in adolescents will lead to more complications of NCD in the later stages of human ife.
